This gorgeous simulated Amethyst brooch, with its multi-faceted Austrian crystal prong set rhinestones was originally owned and worn exclusively by Agnes Moorehead when she portrayed the meddlesome mother-in-law to Darren Stephen's and her daughter Samantha  on America's first paranormal sitcom
Bewitched
. The metal is a bit tarnished and the stones have slight surface scratches

Measuring 1-1/2" wide, the rhinestones are prong set and sparkle so brilliantly, they are casting hues of pink on the ceiling of our office as we type this. These older rhinestones sparkle magically in bright lights.
According to Elizabeth Montgomery, who was interviewed for 2 new books currently being written about the stars and the props they wore and or kept from their films and TV shows. This piece dated back to the beginning of Bewitched, and was given to Agnes by Maurice Evans, the actor who portrayed Samantha's father and Endora's husband on Bewitched. . She received two lovely identical simulated amethyst brooches that looked pink, from Maurice for her birthday in December of 1965 and wore them on the show. She also rented them to the prop department on The Wild, Wild West, when she co-starred as the viscous valentine

Shortly before her death to cancer in 1974, Agnes gave Elizabeth many pieces of the costume jewelry she wore on Bewitched for she and the other actresses to wear on the series.
During the interview which took place at her Beverly Hills home, Elizabeth showed the author of the books several pieces of prop jewelry she and Agnes wore, that she still had.
After her untimely death, this piece and others like it were sold to our client at the yard sale held on her estate in June of 1999.  Our client knew the star personally since she lived in the neighborhood and actually worked on Bewitched in props and wardrobe and remembered seeing Elizabeth wearing it. All these years later, she has kept the piece in her prestigious collection, having loaned it to several Hollywood themed museums, including one owned by Debbie Reynolds.
