Beauty and the Beast (1987) Screen-used Matte Painting by Syd Dutton

Description

This painting by visual effects matte artist Syd Dutton established the Nameless River in its original colors for the episode ‘To Reign in Hell’ (1988).  The light rays were an additional element using a cel overlay.  This beautifully executed painting exhibits horizontal scuff marks and chipped paint incurred from production and storage.  This work was created on a 60" x 38.5" sheet of Masonite and is located in Los Angeles, California.
